13 days

There are 13 days until Halloween. I love traditions, and we have quite a few in my house.

Any holiday is ripe with traditions, and Halloween is no exemption. I've been meaning to create a countdown calendar to Halloween...similar to an advent calendar we do at Christmas. Today I was over at ArtsyMama's blog and read this. I was inspired to finally create that countdown calendar. Thanks Kari!

Day 13

Today's treat...little ghost mints.
Today's special food...boo floats (chocolate chip ice-cream, Dr. Pepper and orange sprinkles)

My black and white art work for today.

Today's activity...listening to an old favorite. When my children were very young, I would always play this cd as soon as I saw the first signs of autumn. I still play it even though the kids are too old to show much interest in it.

What fun did you have today?

Since this is a new tradition, I'm looking at it as a work in progress that I will add to throughout the next 13 days. I chose the black and white theme because they've always been two of my favorite colors, and I think it corresponds nicely with Halloween. Each day there is a little treat for my kids to open. (just like at Christmas) Each day, I'll make a black and white craft...and there will be a Halloween activity/tradition to do that day. I've also included a Halloween food to make for that day.
